THE CITY OF AVENAL HAS TRANSITIONED TO AN ONLINE PERMITING SYSTEM. ALL BUILDING AND LAND USE / ZONING AND LAND DIVISION PERMITS ARE ALL REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED ONLINE THROUGH OUR ONLINE PORTAL. PLEASE CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW TO APPLY FOR A PERMIT.
The goal of the Planning Division is to improve the quality of life for Avenal's residents by guiding the safe, efficient, and sustainable physical development of the community.
The City's Zoning Ordinance determines the land uses within the city's jurisdiction. Each parcel in the city is assigned within a zone district, which describes the regulations and requirements under which that land may be utilized for. The Zoning Ordinance identifies allowable uses and sets development standards such as minimum lot size, maximum building height, and minimum front yard depth.
The City's Land Division Ordinance helps facilitate the division of land and Lot Line Adjustments Pursuant to the California Subdivision Map Act (SMA). The Ordinance guides the regulation and process of any Subdivision, parcel or Adjustment that will effect real property within the City of Avenal.
