As part of its expanded wildfire safety efforts in high fire-threat areas, PG&E is doing more real-time monitoring of extreme weather and fire danger conditions, enhancing vegetation management around power lines and conducting accelerated safety inspections of electric infrastructure. As a last resort for safety, PG&E may also need to turn off electricity when extreme fire danger conditions are forecasted. This work is being done as part of the company’s Community Wildfire Safety Program, which implements additional precautionary measures following the 2017 and 2018 wildfires to further reduce wildfire threats.
